Every The Pattern detail above comes from The Pattern’s own website or support pages, checked on 24 September 2026. Where a cell says “not published on their site”, we could not find the answer published by the company itself and chose to leave it blank rather than guess. Apps billed through the App Store or Google Play often list their price only in the store, so a missing price is usually just where they put it.
What The Pattern does well
It has the best answer in this whole comparison set to a question most astrology products dodge: what is this actually for? Its own description is that it helps you understand the patterns shaping your life and influencing your relationships, and the features line up behind that sentence rather than sprawling. Your Pattern is the person, Your Bonds is the relationships, Your Transits is the timing, Discover is the reading material. That is a product with a spine.
Time Travel is a genuinely good idea and we do not have an equivalent. Being able to point at any date — a year ago, next spring — and ask what the sky was doing is the natural question a curious person asks second, right after they have looked at themselves, and most tools make it awkward.
It is also on both iOS and Android, and it offers a free natal chart, so the cost of having a look is nothing. And relationship astrology is a major use case: The Pattern builds dedicated functionality around it, in Your Bonds, rather than reducing two charts to a compatibility score.
How OrbHeaven approaches astrology
OrbHeaven splits the thing into two parts and keeps them visibly separate. The positions are arithmetic: computed locally by an open astronomical engine, with the engine name, its version, the house system, the node convention and the exact universal time printed on the chart. The interpretation is writing: produced by a language model that is handed those numbers and never asked to compute one.
The second half of the product is the part that has no equivalent anywhere in this comparison. When a period it flagged has passed, OrbHeaven comes back and asks you how it went. It keeps the answer. Over time that record is read back to you, so the question “does any of this correspond to anything?” becomes something you can actually look at rather than a matter of faith.
None of it is framed as prediction. A transit window is a period when a particular geometry is exact, which is a fact about the sky rather than a claim about your life, and the writing around it is offered as something to think with.
The differences that actually matter
Who you are, or when things are
The Pattern’s centre of gravity is description: this is your pattern, this is how you bond. OrbHeaven’s is timing: this stretch starts building on this date, is exact on that one, eases by then. Both come out of the same chart. If you mostly want to understand yourself and the people around you, the first framing is the more useful one, and it is not ours.
Relationships, and what happens to the data
Both do chart-to-chart comparison. Ours is deliberately not social: you add someone, their chart is compared with yours, and nothing is shared, matched or posted. The free tier covers one other person and thirty days of shared stretches; Plus extends it to four months with a written portrait of the pair.
Whether the working is shown
The Pattern does not publish its calculation method on its site, so we cannot describe it. What we can say is what ours does: two people running the same birth details through OrbHeaven should get identical numbers, and the chart tells you the conventions used so you can tell whether a disagreement with another tool is an error or just a different house system. If you have ever had two apps give you different rising signs, that is usually why — and if you do not know your birth time, OrbHeaven refuses to pick an Ascendant at all rather than guessing.
Store app, or web app
The Pattern is on iOS and Android. OrbHeaven is an installable web app with no store listing, which means nothing to download and no store account, but also no native notifications and no store search to find it in.

Is OrbHeaven an alternative to The Pattern?
For some of what The Pattern does, yes. Both read a natal chart and both look at relationships between two charts. The difference is emphasis: The Pattern presents the chart mainly as a description of who you are and how you connect with people, while OrbHeaven spends its effort on the calculation, on dated periods ahead, and on keeping a record of how those periods actually went.
Does OrbHeaven do relationship comparisons like Your Bonds?
It does something adjacent rather than identical. On the free tier you can add one other person and see their whole chart, the angles between yours and theirs, and thirty days of the stretches you share. Plus extends that to four months, adds a written portrait of the two of you and a reading drawn across both charts. It is chart-to-chart comparison rather than a social feature — there is no matching, no mutual connection required, and nothing is posted anywhere.
Can I look up a date in the past or the future?
The Pattern has a feature for this called Time Travel, which looks up astrology for any past, present or future date. OrbHeaven approaches it from the other direction: instead of a date picker, it gives you a timeline of the stretches ahead with the date each one starts building, the day it is exact and when it eases. There is also a page for today's sky. If arbitrary date lookup is the thing you want, The Pattern names a feature for it and we do not.
What does The Pattern cost?
The Pattern's support site names two subscriptions — Go Deeper+, offered quarterly or annually, and Connect+, offered quarterly only — but does not publish the prices, so we are not going to state them. Their App Store or Google Play listing is the place to check. OrbHeaven has one paid tier, Plus, at $12 a month or $99 a year, and a free tier that is permanent rather than a trial.
Is there a free chart on both?
Yes. The Pattern's site says a free natal chart is offered. OrbHeaven's free chart is at /birth-chart, needs no account and stores nothing you type into it. The difference worth knowing is what each shows about its own working: OrbHeaven prints the engine, version, house system, node convention and exact universal time on the chart itself.
Does OrbHeaven include tarot?
Yes, behind a free account rather than on the open web. The free tier includes one-card tarot and rune casts, five a month; Plus opens full spreads read against your chart. Cards are drawn with a cryptographic random generator and the draw is recorded before anything is interpreted, so the reading cannot be quietly fitted to a nicer card afterwards.
