What is an aspect in astrology?
The angle between two points in a chart, usually two planets, measured the shorter way round the circle. Astrologers commonly use five aspects found in Ptolemy: 0° (conjunction), 60° (sextile), 90° (square), 120° (trine) and 180° (opposition), and many also use the 150° quincunx. The angle is calculated; what it means is interpretation. An aspect counts when it falls within an allowed distance from exact, called the orb.
